Thinking of engaging AT Law Practice LLP for your property needs?
Introduction
When it comes to finding a law firm to handle a legal matter, it's important to do your research and choose a firm that has a good reputation for providing excellent service. Unfortunately, my mistake for not reading reviews on AT Law Practice LLP and my experience with AT Law Practice LLP was the complete opposite. Not only was the service extremely rude, but the firm was also incredibly slow in handling my case. This is a cautionary tale of what can happen when you choose the wrong law firm. In case another firm has similar names, I am referring to https://www.atlawpractice.com. The company website states that they are situated at HDB Hub but in fact they had moved to United Square.
You can find the reviews on Google here. Out of 41 reviews (as of this writing), they are rated 3.0 which is super low in my opinion. Anything below 4 is a red flag. The common rant among the lousy reviews are of the same issues, slow in responding, get ignored etc. The good reviews whereas may seem to appear unreal, perhaps done by staff or friends? You can make your own judgement.
My Own Experience
From the moment I first contacted AT Law Practice LLP and spoke to Aloysius Goh, I knew I was in for a rough experience. I am greeted with an extremely rude and impatient tone. He says "Can you give us a few days or not" in a tone that seem like you do not deserve at least a bit of respect for being a customer. It appears that I am an inconvenience rather than a paying client which by the way, the fees are not the cheapest. From the call, I understand that the developer had not served the notice to the law firm so I hang up and tried to get in touch with the developer instead. The developer advise that they serve notices in batches and mine is scheduled to be served on 16 Jan 2023. The developer advise to wait till 17 Jan 2023 to see if there's any update.
On 17 Jan 2023, I waited patiently with nothing in my email inbox. I decided to call the developer to confirm if they had served the notice to the law firm. They mentioned the notice was served on 16 Jan 2023 as scheduled. Decided to call AT Law Practice LLP again, even though I know I may speak to a rude person. I made the call around 4pm+ that day. There's no answer.
On 18 Jan 2023, I tried calling again at 10.41am, no answer. Again at 10.43am, no answer. Again at 11.20am, no answer. Finally at 11.26am, spoke to Aloysius Goh again. Once again, I am greeted with a rude tone and was told "Can you give us a few days or not". He said "I will try to send by end of this week". Just for context, there's a group chat among the owners to share their progress. Every other owners had received the notice, paid the required fees such as survey fee and maintenance fee, and proceeded to book their key collections. The earliest booking was on 20 Jan 2023. I am pissed and decided to tell my UOB Banker about the incident. (One of the best banker ever, awesome service, extremely helpful.)
On 19 Jan 2023, still no news yet as of this writing. I am extremely pissed knowing that more and more owners are making their payments and arranging for keys collection. My banker helps me to write an email to the law firm at 11.03am. As of 1352pm, I finally received an email from the law firm.
"Dear Sir, we refer to the above matter and attached herewith a copy of our letter and Developer's solicitor letter for your attention. Kindly let us have the said payment on or before 25 Jan 2023"
The email has an attachment and the email seem to be templated. In the attachment, AT Law's letter also acknowledge that they received the LEE & LEE letter which is the developer solicitor dated 16 Jan 2023. So it take them 3 days to send a templated email with an attachment. You can tell how efficient there are.
Final Thoughts
I decided to set up a site hopefully able to get indexed by Google and warn others about this lousy law firm. Hopefully helping others to avoid such a frustrating experience despite being a paying customer.
